The City of Boca Raton announced this week that all summer camps facilitated by the municipality have been canceled amid the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Camp Boca sites, Gumbo Limbo Environmental Camp, specialty camps held at Sugar Sand Park Community Center, sports related camps, and camps held at the beach are all part of the latest announcement. The cancellation also includes specialty camps that are held on any City property during the summer season of 2020.

The following was posted in a special edition newsletter from the City of Boca Raton:

“The goal of our summer camp programs has always been to ensure every camper enjoys a summer that is fun, and most importantly, safe. The safety and health of our campers and their families, as well as our team members remains our priority. We are working closely with the National Recreation and Park Association on new and creative programming in the future for our Boca Raton residents and families.”

The City of Boca Raton is working on virtual summer program opportunities and camp resources that will be posted to its social media sites during the month of June.
