The Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control is undergoing an exciting expansion that will dramatically reshape how the facility serves the community’s most vulnerable animals.
During a groundbreaking ceremony in late January, county officials, shelter staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the launch of this transformative project.
The expansion promises significant upgrades across the entire facility. New kennels, expanded medical capabilities, enhanced housing for various animals, and major infrastructure improvements are all part of the plan. But most importantly, the shelter’s capacity to care for animals will nearly triple.
For years, the shelter has operated beyond capacity, with animals arriving faster than they can be placed in new homes. This expansion addresses that critical need, meaning the facility will be able to help countless more strays, abused, and neglected animals that depend on this shelter.
How You Can Help Right Now
While the expansion takes shape, the shelter urgently needs community support through three key ways:
- Adopt – Special promotions are happening throughout the year, including $15 adoption fees through February
- Foster – Short term and long term foster opportunities are available.
- Volunteer – From dog walking to creating enrichment toys, there are many ways to get involved
The shelter also welcomes donations of gently used linens, newspapers, food, treats, and other pet supplies.
