April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month & the City of Sebastian is highlighting efforts to raise awareness and support children and families in the community.
So what are they doing exactly? The City of Sebastian and the Sebastian Police Dept. have partnered with Safe Families for Children to install a Pinwheels for Prevention display outside Sebastian City Hall and the Police Department on April 2, 2026. The blue pinwheels symbolize the safe, stable, and nurturing environments every child deserves.
City leaders and Safe Families for Children emphasized the importance of early childhood experiences and the role community support plays in preventing abuse and neglect.
Safe Families for Children has supported more than 85,000 families nationwide by surrounding families with a network of help.
Sebastian City Manager Brian Benton thanked the organization for its work and said the city is proud to help raise awareness by displaying the pinwheels at key city locations.
The city said it remains committed to initiatives that promote the safety, health, and well being of local children and families.
