In Palm Beach County, what goes into the garbage doesn’t simply end up in a landfill. The Solid Waste Authority’s renewable energy facilities use that waste as fuel to generate enough electricity to power about 90,000 local homes, while reducing the volume of waste by at least 90%.
The facilities also recover valuable metals and help extend the life of the landfill until 2071. Since 1989, SWA has been turning waste into a resource for a cleaner, more sustainable Palm Beach County.
